Statement:

Control Spending While Maintaining Essential Services

"I've spoken to many Burrillville residents in both my personal and professional capacities. People have overwhelmingly told me that they want to remain citizens of Burrillville as long as the Town can execute a workable plan to encourage the expansion of the tax base by way of attracting 'green' and stable businesses in a manner that preserves the essential rural character of the Town." Heitke is committed to holding the line on residential taxes and assisting the Town in continuing to maintain all services essential to the residents.

Increase awareness of health care needs and solutions

"The improvement of health care programs for the elderly and families that cannot afford adequate health care is the responsibility of every level of government, including that of the town." I pledge to work to encourage state and national solutions to health care programs, while ensuring that existing programs in Burrillville are maintained and expanded.    Increasing the residents'  knowledge  about  existing programs  and  laws regarding health care is a priority for me.

Re-establish pride for the Town of Burrillville

"How can a town with so much history, which once excelled in manufacturing, hard and honest work and had a tradition of sporting excellence, accept a "second-class" status as a town and community? Everyday, while in various court houses throughout the state, I hear the jabs at and insults to the Town of Burrillville. I have chosen to live in this Town and make a life for my family and feel it necessary to not only defend it but to demonstrate pride in the Town.

"Whitewashing a problem is not the solution. With so many positive aspects, this town is already an attraction for many Rhode Islanders. We need to polish our positive qualities and continue to tout our lakes and other natural resources, bikeways and fishing areas. To compete with other towns, we must manifest hope!

With your help, and with your vote for me as your next Town Councilor, we can make Burrillville not only a source of pride for our residents, but also sustain our rightful place as an asset to the State of Rhode Island.
