The Town Council must continue todevelop and execute a workable plan to encourage the expansion of the tax base by attracting clean and stable businesses to Burrillville in a manner that preserves the essential rural character of the Town  The Burrillville Democratic Candidates are committed to holding the line on residential tax rates.

Use Comprehensive Planning To Insure Healthy Growth

Burrillville has experienced a period of rapid growth of homes that have created severe strain on the support services of the town.  The Democratic Party is dedicated to the idea of controlling growth through comprehensive planning.  This planning must recognize the housing needs of every citizen from young families to our senior citizens.The Democratic candidates are particularly aware of the need for affordable housing for the elderly and for new families and pledge to continue that progress that has been made over the past 2 years..

Adequate Health Care For All Who Are In Need

The improvement of health care programs for the elderly and families that can not afford adequate heath care is the responsibility of every level of government.  The Burrillville Democrats pledge to work to encourage state and national solutions to the health care programs, while maintaining and expanding existing programs here in Burrillville. We are working to make information about existing programs more widely available.

Cooperation of the Town Council and the School Committee

The School Committee and the Town Council must recognize their dual responsibility to the children of Burrillville and to those who pay the bill.  Our Democratic Candidates are committed to developing and implementing a joint plan with the School Committee that recognizes the needs of both the students and the taxpayer.

Provide for a Center for Burrillville Seniors
The Democratic party recognizes the need for a place for your senior citizens to meet and participate in social and educational activities.  We are committed to providing a center that will serve as a focal point for activities for our Seniors

Review The Charter In Prepartation To Present Changes In 2008

The Democratic Party sees a need to review the current town charter and introduce changes .  In particular we believe that the citizens of Burrillville are better served by returning to School Committee candidates selected and supported by the political parties with a states platform.  We also believe that it is time to examine the desirability of an elected town Administrator to provide increased accountability in the important function of town management.
